Mapúan film “Proj. Imakulada” most awarded in UP Cinema’s 16th Piling Obrang Vidyo
Mapúa University Digital Cinema graduate Jan Michael Bernardino bagged six awards for his film “Proj. Imakulada” in the Piling Obrang Vidyo (POV) XVI held last February 1 at University of the Philippines (UP) Cine Adarna.
Bernardino’s narrative film won Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Musical Score and Sound, and Viewer’s Choice Award. The film also earned UP Cinema’s Cinemaster’s Choice Award.
"Proj. Imakulada” is a story of a young lady who has the opportunity to live in two different eras – the ‘70s and the 21st century – but is later faced with the dilemma of choosing whether to stay in the past for her family or to exist in the present for her sake.
In 2019, three other Mapúans were also recognized by UP Cinema’s POV: Celina Mae Medina’s “Ophelia,” Harold Lance Pialda’s “Gatilyo,” and Gabrielle Lloyd Reyes’ “Ang Mambabarang at Ang Mga Taong Pinatay sa Limot.”
Mapúa’s School of Media Studies offers five topnotch undergraduate programs, namely, Multimedia Arts, Digital Film, Broadcast Media, Digital Journalism, and Advertising Design. It has produced renowned graduates with films recognized in various international and local film festivals.
