2020 SMART 2.0 Student Online Competition.

Presidents' Forum of Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities (SATU) would like to announce the opening of the 2020 SMART 2.0 Student Online Competition. Last year, 49 undergraduate and graduate students from 10 countries participated in the 2019 SMART 2.0 Challenge and worked together in international and cross-cultural teams.

As the COVID-19 pandemic is still affecting the world, universities in many countries have shifted to distance learning. This type of learning will no doubt continue to shape the way future generations are educated even after this pandemic is over. Although distance learning has many advantages, unresolved challenges still exist for both students and teachers, and there is no better way to improve online learning experiences than by hearing from the students themselves.

We would like to invite all students enrolled in SATU member universities to join this year’s competition and shape future education together. This competition also echoes the 2020 SATU theme of “Forging Creative Pathways with International Education-Utilizing Local Resources to Diversify Outreach and Innovation.”

The 2020 SMART 2.0 Challenge will incorporate student input concerning how best to improve distance learning and will focus on the following:

  • • Identify up to five (5) important problems being widely experienced by distance leaners
  • • Develop innovative solutions to overcome these problems

The main objectives are to initiate changes that can help our students and future generations to have better distance learning experiences. And we are very happy to say, even during these difficult times, that our students can still participate in the 2020 SMART 2.0 Challenge virtually and further develop their talents.

Please register online by 24th, June. We thank you in advance for you kind support.
For more details, please refer to the below flyer and visit the SMART 2.0 website.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact them at [email protected]

The 2020 SATU Joint Research Scheme (JRS) is now calling for Co-PIs.

There are 224 projects from 157 PI applicants in this year which is highest one-year total in SATU JRS’ nine-year history since 2012. This submission number is also more than two times greater than last year’s 97 projects. Furthermore, the project fields include Bioscience & Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Management, Medicine, Planning & Design, Sciences, and Social Science. With this tremendous increase, we believe that there is now an even greater opportunity for the scholars of our member universities to collaborate with each other.

The 2020 SATU JRS Projects List can be downloaded here, and we have also provided a link to this list on the 2020 SATU JRS webpage.

Please visit the 2020 SATU JRS for more information. To apply as a Co-PI, the applicant just needs to complete the online application form (which includes uploading a CV). The application will be sent to the PI(s) for review. The matched results of 2020 SATU JRS will be announced on the SATU webiste on May 18th, 2020.

Please note and mark in your calendar that the application deadline is 26th April, 2020.

We would also be very grateful if you could share this information regarding the 2020 SATU JRS Call for Co-PIs with your academic colleagues.

If you require any further information, please contact Ms. Peggy Hsieh at [email protected]. Thank you for your continued support.
