Mapúa to co-host 2022 International Student Mobility Program, aims to level up students’ management and decision-making abilities as COVID-19 crisis eases

Mapúa University is co-hosting this year’s International Student Mobility (ISM) program with partner universities in Asia, which will feature a webinar, general lectures, and a virtual company visit, from March 22 to March 25, 2022. The ISM program is an important collaboration activity of the University with the lead institution the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) and other participating universities Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Ankara Haci Bayram Veli University, Dicle University, and Anadolu University, as it is an avenue for Mapúa students to broaden their perspective on global concerns and have a wider understanding of cultural diversity.

The first activity in the series is a webinar entitled “G20 SDGs Outlook: How the Country Recovers the Post Pandemic Economy” on March 22, with speakers from different participating schools. It will be followed by general lectures on the future after the COVID-19 pandemic with lecturers from UII on March 23. A virtual company visit at Roti Gembong Gedhe and Project B Indonesia will also be conducted on March 25. Similar to the experience of doing international plant visits, students will tour the company’s essential facilities and understand their functions. The activity allows students to compare foreign business operations and office culture with what are typically happening in the Philippines.

Through the program, students will understand how countries implement different strategies for socio-economic recovery from the impact of the pandemic. This is invaluable for them as future workforce and leaders in their respective industries for they become aware of the importance of coming up with sustainable developments, decisions, and new systems to counter and recover from the effects of a global crisis. They will meet notable speakers to acquire up-to-date knowledge, insights, and experiences that will enrich their understanding and perspectives about the topics.

Since the pandemic began in 2020, Mapúa has been utilizing its online platforms to continuously provide students with global opportunities through its international programs. The programs enable them to acquire general learning and new knowledge on topics concerning their academic programs and the industries they’ll be part of in the future. The ISM program is one of the efforts being delivered by Mapúa’s Office of International Career and Exchange Programs along with mini-colloquiums, the Summer School program, joint classes, and short course programs.
