Team FLAME of Mapúa University won 1st runner up in the Outstanding Creative Research (Likha Award) Government-Funded at the 2019 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits - National Capital Region (RICE-NCR) last November 6 to 8, 2019 held at the Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City.
The team is composed of students from the School of Electrical, Electronics, & Computer Engineering namely Darwyn James Goling, Louie Andrie Reyta, Adrian Robert Doroteo, Franklin Godwin Lañojan, Emmanuel Freeman Paloma, Alec Denji Santos, and Mapúa SHS Alumnus Jacob Martin Manguiat with their adviser Engr. Ericson D. Dimaunahan.
The team presented their project FLAME (Fire, Luminosity, Alert, and Multi-Sensory Equipment), an IoT-based fire detection module using heat signature mapping and multi- sensor system for fire reduction. The innovation is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD)’s Young Innovators Program.
