Ms. Geraldine C. Gochioco, Mapúa University’s assistant vice president (AVP) for administration, received the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC) Values Exemplar Award last November 6 at RCBC Plaza, Makati City.
Gochioco was hailed as an Exemplar for Sense of Urgency, which is awarded to an employee who acts on situations fast and takes the initiative to respond to the needs of various stakeholders.
In September 2017 when a power failure hit the campus caused by the short-circuiting of its main circuit breaker, Gochioco even on a sick leave immediately mobilized maintenance personnel and activated her prepared business continuity plans to ensure the continuity of the University’ operations, including the conduct of entrance examinations and college enrollment, and the co-hosting of Blockchain for Social Impact Coalition.

Along with other awardees, Gochioco received Php 30,000 and a plaque.
Gochioco, the University’s AVP for administration since 2012, handles Health Services, Campus Development Management, and Purchasing Offices. She obtained Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Hotel and Restaurant Management from St. Paul College Quezon City and has taken Master of Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.
The annual search for YGC Values Exemplars aims to promote strong and sustained awareness of YGC’s core values. The awards are also given by YGC to identify and recognize its employees who are Values Exemplars. Previous Mapúan awardees include Exemplars for Excellence Engr. Mary Christine Tomas (2016) and Dr. Alvin Caparanga (2010), and Exemplar for Loyalty Dr. Allan Soriano (2013).
