UOX (FULLY ONLINE) PROGRAMS
What is a UOX (fully online) program? How different is it from a regular degree program?
A regular degree program has teaching and learning activities delivered in blended mode, which is a combination of onsite and online delivery. However, a UOX program is delivered 100% online, including laboratory and field courses. Furthermore, the teaching and learning activities in a UOX program are designed to be asynchronous, which does not require real-time interaction between students and professors.
Is the quality of education in a UOX program different from that in a regular program?
Mapúa’s UOX programs offer the same excellent quality of education as their regular degree counterparts. UOX and regular programs have the same curriculum and course contents, total number of credit units, student outcomes. They also follow the same academic policies and grading system. After completing the UOX programs, students will be conferred with their degrees and receive their diplomas with the seal of Mapúa University.
How is learning facilitated in a UOX program?
With strong digital capabilities in place, Mapúa facilitates learning in its UOX programs through its very own learning management system, the Cardinal EDGE. Through Cardinal EDGE, students can access all resources and course works at a time that best suits their schedule. Students will also be able to access powerful learning tools and vast, up-to-date learning resources through the Cardinal EDGE.
What kind of commitment does a UOX program require?
Mapúa’s UOX programs offer the flexibility of “anytime, anywhere” learning. Teaching and learning activities are designed to be asynchronous, wherein no real-time interaction between students and professors is required. Students can access all resources and course works at a time that best suits their schedule. Learning in a UOX program does not interfere with other commitments such as work, chores, and even passion and leisure time, making it ideal for working individuals and professionals who are seeking to take graduate studies in order to shift careers or advance in their current jobs. The only time consideration that a student in a UOX program has is the deadline of submission of course requirements and Mapúa’s academic calendar.
As a student, how do I get support services in a UOX program?
Despite the remote learning setup, Mapúa provides UOX students with close assistance through life coaches that act as advisers throughout students’ academic life. Life coaches assist on matters related to fully online studies, such as academic advising and enrollment, career advising and placement opportunities, goal setting, time management and social skills coaching, and other transactions with the University.
Can a student in a UOX program shift to a blended program?
Students in a UOX program are expected to complete their degree in a fully online mode. On a case-to-case basis, a one-time approval to shift to the regular blended program may be granted.
Are Mapúa’s UOX programs official?
Mapúa’s UOX graduate programs are approved by the Commission on Higher Education and offer the same quality of education as their traditional (on-campus, face-to-face) counterparts. After completing the programs, students will be conferred with their degrees and get diplomas with the seal of Mapúa University.
