MAPÚA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY is committed to provide excellent services to its students. To achieve this, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (OVPSA) was created to formulate strategies and programs that respond to the needs and specific concerns of the students, thus allowing them to become responsible, value-oriented, well-rounded individuals and productive members of the society.
The mission of the Mapúa SPS units is to fully support the vision and mission of the Institute by providing high quality services to students. The SPS units also aim to enhance and deepen students’ commitment to positive values and inculcate in them a strong sense of honesty, compassion, benevolence, personal responsibility, and respect for others. The values of discipline, excellence, commitment, integrity, and relevance (DECIR) are instilled to the students so that they would be better equipped to face life’s challenges.
One of the Student Personnel Services (SPS) units under the supervision of the OVPSA is the Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC). The Center for Guidance and Counseling aims to develop the total well-being of students as individuals and as members of society.
Being an SPS unit, the Center for Guidance and Counseling (CGC) is tasked to provide comprehensive programs and services that will ensure that students shall be able to develop their God-given potentials. Its’ commitment is to assist the students so they would fully succeed in all their undertakings during their entire residence in the institute.
The Center supports the school in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and in providing the means to help students achieve their optimum potentials. (MIT Catalogue 2006)
