The President, Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea
Dr. Reynaldo B. Vea took office as the Third President of the Mapua Institute of Technology in January 2000. Prior to this appointment he was the Administrator of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) of Manila (1997-2000) and the Dean of the College of Engineering of the University of the Philippines (1993-1997).
Dr. Vea’s academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley (1991), an M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1981), and a B.S in Mechanical Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of the Philippines (1978).
Dr. Vea has worked most of his life in academe, starting from his graduation in 1978. This has been just briefly interrupted by naval architectural practice at the Hudson Shipbuilders, Inc. in Pascagoula, Mississippi (1981-82) and at the Herbert Engineering Corp., a ship design firm, in San Francisco, California (1982-83). His stint with the MWSS was on appointment by the Philippine President and on a secondment basis from the University. |
