    Overview

The Faculty Development Office (FDO) is an academic unit under the Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Its main responsibility is to plan, implement, and monitor the faculty development programs of the schools and departments as well as those of the Institute.

The programs of FDO are largely based on the needs analysis done by the schools’ deans and subject chairs. FDO coordinates with the deans and subject chairs to align the faculty development programs of the Institute. The overall goal of FDO is to enhance the teaching ability of faculty members through formal and non-formal education. This is also in line with the accreditation requirements of the Commission on Higher Education and other accrediting bodies.

    FDO has two major programs:

    1. Formal Education, which is a long-term development program.
    2. Non-formal Education, which is a short-term development program

    Vision

The Faculty Development Office shall create a new breed of engineering, science, and architecture educators who will be the primary assets of the Mapúa Institute of Technology in the attainment of its mission and goals.

    Mission

The Faculty Development Office aims to produce highly competent and dedicated faculty members who will deliver quality education at Mapúa and perform excellent research and extension work that will propel the Institute to its place in the academic world as a leading institution of engineering, science, and architecture in the country.
