    Overview

    In 2000, the Mapúa Information Technology Center, a subsidiary of Mapúa Institute of Technology, designed a curriculum for a two-year Associate Program in Digital Arts Design to meet the growing demand for industry-driven and skill-oriented IT (information technology) education. It was only in 2007 that it became a full degree program, the BS Multimedia Arts and Sciences, and is now being offered at Mapúa’s Intramuros campus.

    The BS Multimedia Arts and Sciences is designed to train the students to become contemporary visual artists and interactive media designers. Expressing creativity through Arts and Technology, the program aims to equip the students with competencies in freehand drawing, computer graphics, 2D/3D animation, photography, communication and programming for various multimedia applications such as desktop publication, digital imaging, web design, film and video production, and computer games design.

    Graduates of this program may occupy critical posts in printing, advertising, marketing, communications, computer simulation and virtual reality laboratories, cyber station, and entertainment industries.

    Our mission is to disseminate, generate, preserve and apply scientific multimedia technology knowledge using the most effective means, and to provide our students with quality education through rigorous and up-to-date preparation with ample opportunities for the exercise of creativity and the experience of discovery.

    We shall implement a curriculum that, while being steeped in technologies, shall also be rich in the humanities, languages and social sciences that will inculcate ethics.
