    Grapplers Seize Medals in Tourney

    Saturday, November 07, 2009

The Mapúa Judokas showed great authority and prowess against rampaging rivals in the One La Salle Judo Championship 2010 Pre-qualifiers last December 5-6 at the Enrique Razon Sports Complex, DLSU.

Conquering the odds were Maverick Ureta (ECE-2), Joseph Paolo Timbol (ECE-4), and Sheena Luz Refran (MAS-3) bringing home gold medals from their respective divisions. On the other hand, adding glitz for Mapúa the impeccable skills of Edwin Chris Joson (ME-2) and Felix Bert Unicruz (CE-3) barged in, claiming silver awards for the team. While fourth year ECE veterans Evamie Sarco and Wyndee Khristine Cocjin (ECE-4) spearheaded bronze together with Virgil Rivera (MAS-2), Richelle Veronica Piollo (ECE-1), and Kristina Angelie(ChE-3).

In an interview with The New Builder, Richelle Piollo discussed the essential aspects of the Grapplers in the event.

The Judo team’s 11 outstanding medals were snatched from University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), UP Diliman, University of the East (UE), Ateneo de Manila (ADMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Central Colleges of Manila (CCM), and PCCR.
